Kai Tak Cruise Terminal
Gallery
Located at the southern end of the former runway, the Hong Kong Cruise terminal will be developed on a 7.6 hectare site, aiming to sustain Hong Kong’s position as the regional Cruise Hub. Alongside the cruise terminal will be a range of tourist facilities including hotels, malls and an aviation themed park, which provides unique leisure open space for tourists as well as local residents.
The “green waves” landscape form on the roof is an abstraction of nature which transforms this long and narrow site into an urban oasis. The landscape framework is a double helix foot path circulation which offers a more convoluted, intertwined, contemporary landscape narrative rather than simply a long linear experience through the landscape.
The softscape provides vertical structure to the landscape and with feature trees and shrub planting, key landscape nodes have been created. The main landscape concept is to project a strong sense of lush and green environment similar to a botanic garden.
