West Kowloon Terminus Express Rail Link & Public Transport Interchange

Gallery

West Kowloon Terminus (WKT) is the proposed underground terminus of the Hong Kong Section of Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link (XRL). It is the only station in the Hong Kong Section and will connect to the Hong Kong-Shenzhen boundary through a dedicated tunnel before heading to Guangzhou. WKT is located in Jordan, Kowloon, north of the proposed West Kowloon Cultural District between the Airport Express Kowloon Station and the West Rail Line Austin Station.

The site is about 5.88ha and will be developed into office/commercial/retail development above the WKT with necessary supporting facilities. Aedas as the architect have designed the WKT rooftop as an iconic structure with a curvilinear roof and landscape forms flowing from the west to the south, integrating with the commercial/retail floors.  AECOM was commissioned to provide full landscape service for the WKT area in addition to footbridges and road works, from concept design, schematic, design development through to construction and inspection.

As a highly prominent urban site the landscaping works need to take into consideration numerous opportunities and constraints including existing and new views across Victoria Harbour, public transport connectivity, pedestrian connectivity, footbridge location and connections, emergency vehicle access, security requirements, structural loading of the roof design, sustainable design solutions, open space and greenery requirements and interfaces and relationships with the proposed property area on the roof, West Kowloon Cultural District and Public Transport Interchange (PTI).
